The influence of music on the perception of taste

The auditory characteristics of a musical composition can be matched in congruent manner with the basic tastes affecting way consumers perceive them. Based on this evidence, present study was developed to extend understanding crossmodal interactions between gustatory and stimuli—namely, influence music sweet sour intensity. For purpose, two compositions were selected. stimulus chosen real food (passion fruit mousse) having these tastes. Sensory tests performed upon participants screening using recognition familiarization used scale. Each participant experienced same dessert three different conditions, random order: i) control, which tasted silence; ii) condition A, while listening music, that expectably would enhance taste iii) B, taste. Results demonstrated perceived differently when exposed stimuli, validating music's tasting experience. Furthermore, it verified music-taste correspondences stronger showed significant effect.
